The original images were created with a mixture of pencil marks and trace monotype, experimenting with line and texture. With a slow pace mixing image and text, it juxtaposes the figurative and the abstract.

This piece was selected for the Royal Scottish Academy Open Exhibition, and was exhibited at the National Gallery of Scotland in 2016. It went on to be exhibited as part of the 7th International Illustration Symposium, hosted in 2016 by Edinburgh College of Art.

The Cailleach (Cailleacha plural) is an ancient woman, so old that she can remember when sea was land and land was sea. A landscaper, she shapes our natural environment and exists as part of it - so tall a mountain that she is sometimes known as the 'veiled one', catching the clouds.
This piece is for self promotional purposes, screenprinted and folded to become an envelope holding a card, a self portrait of sorts.
